Hi, I'm Joh.

Every star you see tonight is light that left home long before any of us were born. The universe is that wide, and everything we know is still a small circle of light in the middle of it. That's how I think about learning: there's always more out there. So I keep asking, keep reading and keep trying new things, and I don't plan on stopping.

What I do

By day, I run marketing and AI operations, and I build websites, campaigns and the systems behind them. If you're interested, that side of me lives at website.johlayson.com.

By night, I read on my Kindle, scroll through my apps for a bit or cook something simple. I catch up with my family, in person or over the phone, and some nights I meet up with friends just to say hello. Mostly, I'm appreciating what I have now.

The pale blue dot

In 1990, as Voyager 1 was heading out of the solar system, Carl Sagan asked NASA to turn its camera around one last time. From about six billion kilometers away, it took a picture of home. Earth was a single speck of light, smaller than a pixel.

“Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us.”

Carl Sagan, Pale Blue Dot

Someone was curious enough to look back. That's the kind of curiosity I want to keep.

Want to know me a little more?

My thoughts is where I'll keep my diary: what I'm reading, learning and wondering about. It's still a work in progress, so come back now and then. Or just say hello.
